Francisco Mata Rosas has a strong and respected career in Mexican photography. He is a master of the urban Mexican documentary and his photography is distinguished for its great sense of humor, which in turn portrays daily Mexican life in detail. He has belonged to the National System of Art Creators of Mexico (FONCA) since 2000. He is also part of the Art Researchers Network, of the board of the Pedro Meyer Foundation, of the FotoMuseo Cuatro Caminos in Mexico, and to the Latin American Studies Association in the United States. In 2016, he was awarded the National Medal of Merit in Science and Arts in the visual arts category. He has participated in over 130 group exhibitions and over 80 solo shows in 50 countries including Argentina, India, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, China, Spain, Mexico, France, Holland, Hungary, England, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Lebanon, Morocco, Paraguay, Peru, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Uruguay, Venezuela, and South Africa, among others.
