Con relevantes y numerosos reconocimientos en el escenario internacional, Mary Ellen Mark se caracteriza por una estética documental profundamente humanista. 
Interesada en comunicar la esencia humana y la identidad social de las personas fotografiadas, la artista ha desarrollado una poética visual que transfigura la rudeza de la realidad en una extraña y poética belleza.  
Caminante y exploradora visual incansable, Mary Ellen Mark ha recorrido territorios, ciudades y naciones para atrapar las circunstancias humanas que la apasionan. 
Considerado como uno de sus destinos más entrañables, México la recibe anualmente para compartir la esencia no visible de sus imaginarios; una esencia que la creadora ha logrado atrapar a través de sus poéticas fotográficas.
